Un homme, lunettes noires et chemise de couleur, s’est assis auprès d’un arbre. Loin des bruits de la ville, il retrouve les contes de son enfance où, depuis toujours, hommes et animaux se
croisent pour raconter les bonheurs et petits travers de la société humaine. Pour chaque nouveau conte l’homme choisit un nouvel arbre, s’installe en son creux. Peut-être alors ce n’est plus lui
qui livre cette mémoire ancienne mais chaque arbre de la jungle, dont il serait devenu secrètement l’interprète. De conte en conte la lumières du jour a tourné. La chemise de l’homme a changé
aussi, souvent, comme si de nombreux jours étaient passés. Comme si le temps de la narration, lui aussi, était devenu le temps des contes.
S’intéressant aux contes indiens, NellyM avait eu connaissance des magnifiques rouleaux peints de la tradition des Patuas, formes d’histoires se déroulant, où se mêlaient politique, religieux et
quotidien. Les histoires de Sanjeev Sinha* - car c’est bien lui, face à la caméra - les rejoignent. Ce Gainsbourg indien, cosmopolite prodigue à la dérive contrôlée, toujours rebondissante,
laisse remonter à sa mémoire les contes de sa grand-mère.
Dans cette video épiphanique c'est toute une représentation du monde qui retrouve son fil. Avec "Cyclical ghosts" et "REM-go-round", NellyM lui associe d'autres représentations plus intimes,
celles des rêves nocturnes, par la figure du carrousel.

A man, black glasses and a coloured shirt, sits beside a tree. Far from the city noises, he rediscovers the tales of his childhood in which, since the beginning of time, men and animals come
across each other to tell about the happiness and little failings of human society. For each new tale, the man chooses a new tree, sitting in its hollow. Perhaps it’s not him anymore who delivers
that ancient memory, but each tree of the jungle, of which he has secretly become the interpreter. From tale to tale the daylight has changed. The man’s shirt also has changed, often, as if many
days had gone by. As if the time of the narrative as well had become the time of the tales.
Taking an interest in Indian tales, NellyM learned about the magnificent painted scrolls of the Patuas tradition, unfolding stories in which politics, religion and everyday life mix. The stories
of Sanjeev Sinha* - for it’s him facing the camera – are similar to those. This Indian Gainsbourg, prodigal cosmopolitan and controlled drifter, always on the go, brings back to memory his
grandmother’s tales.
In this 'epiphanical' video an entire representation of the world finds again its coherence. With “Cyclical ghosts” and “REM-go-round”, NellyM brings in other more intimate representations, those
of nightly dreams, using the figure of the merry-go-round.
